About Me

My name is Cheryl and I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

I grew up in a farm in rural Saskatchewan. When I was 11 my grandma taught me to knit. Once I knew the basics she allowed me to choose any pattern I wanted from the Mary Maxim catalog and being someone who doesn’t tend to start small I chose a siwash sweater. I finished that big first project and proudly wore that sweater until I grew out of it. That started my love of knitting which I have enjoyed ever since.

When my son was born in 1990 I decided that I wanted to learn to crochet. So my mom gave me a small book called I taught myself to crochet and then I also became a crocheter which I found that I loved every bit as much as knitting.

During the Covid 19 pandemic I decided to try drawing small pictures. Never in my life had I any artistic ability or desire, but lots of us did things we never thought we’d do during COVID right? Then I started seeing ads for a drawing academy on my social media. For our 25th anniversary my husband asked what I’d like for a gift and I said I would like a year of art classes from the Bonny Snowdon Art Academy. He gave me the gift I wanted and I haven’t looked back. I’m astonished by the incredible things I’ve been able to draw since joining her academy and I have come to love drawing so much.

Some of my many other interests include gardening, cooking, and trying almost every new craft I see at least once. There is never enough time to learn and do everything I want to try so it will be no surprise if new and different things find their ways to this website form time to time.
